The Tshwane Department
of Agriculture has embarked on a journey to prepare a clean way for the State
of The Nation Address since from Monday the whole team including the leaders
went to Soshanguve to pick up the papers.
Nokukhanya Nxumalo one of the campaign leaders felt that the
Soshanguve community did not prove to care about their place being clean as
they have been called to also take part in this campaign but not even one
community member showed out even the councillor did not come. Nokukhanya also
said that this will be an annual event they wish to take to the other places in
Gauteng.
Enforcement of waste
disposal management remains a big problem in South Africa, said Deputy Water
Affairs Minister Rejoice Mabudafhasi on Monday.
"A lot of progress has been made in terms of waste management
since last year, but the problem is exacerbated, in part, by the lack of
enforcement capacity," she told a waste management conference in East
London.
Mabudafhasi
described Cabinet's approval of the implementation of the national waste
management strategy (NWMS) as a milestone in the country's waste management
approach.
"It is the
first single document outlining how government, industry, businesses and households,
as a collective, will deal with waste in order to increase the efficiency and
delivery of waste services," she said.
"As
society progresses, we face the challenges of new and complex waste streams
which must be managed in a sustainable manner."
